Northern Irish singer songwriter Anthony Toner, offering literate, perceptive songs, beautifully played and recorded, and packed with insight and compassion. He has been described recently as 'Belfast's James Taylor', but in fact there are many other influences at work - everyone from Randy Newman to Raymond Carver. His last collection, Sing Under the Bridges, was shortlisted for the Northern Ireland Music Prize. The new collection deals with themes of distance, connection and disconnection, wear and tear – as the title track says: ‘a conversation between distance and love’.
The collection was recorded at former Van Morrison bassist Clive Culbertson’s No Sweat Studios in Coleraine, with a very stripped-down aesthetic - Anthony on guitars, vocals and percussion and Clive on bass and harmonies.
